Brand for Everyday People

It is with the greatest pleasure that I bring you my Civic Duty collection of shoes. My first offering of five timeless and classic styles is the result of a year and a half of planning and research in order to bring you this fresh and innovative product.

The Civic Duty brand was created to help "everyday people." In 2009, I became the latest victim of this country’s economic downturn. With business down over 50% at the company I worked for, I found myself like so many other Americans, without a job. Every day while watching the news, another big company or investment banking firm was getting bailed out by the Government. In many cases, these were the people responsible for creating our country's recession and they were the ones getting bailed out. I just knew I had to take this horrible situation and make something positive out of it. So I decided to create an economic stimulus plan of my own.

I have had a love for all things fashion ever since I can remember Several years ago, I was working with a brand that created a travel sneaker that came packaged in a Tyvek^® bag. I remember how blown away I was at the properties of the material and how great I thought it would work as a sneaker, rather than just the packaging. So I set out to create a sneaker out of the Tyvek^® material. It took almost a year of work, but I finally came up with the formula to commercialize this product.
